Like when the aunts say “no” in unison and I can feel myself stuck down onto my chair. Next, I fill in the tufts of trees. Sometimes they come out of the mountains. And sometimes they stand all alone. Then, I trace the tops of the buildings. Some of them are castles. And some of them are crumbling walls. I lift up my doll and let her walk the lines too. We follow along together for a while. Repeating. Sky. Mountains. Trees. Castles. But then we can’t hold back any longer. We leave the lines behind. And we start to fly'.
