A finely crafted late Victorian silver band, decorated in deep black enamel and inscribed in with “Gott Schütze Dich” - German for “God protect you.” The blessing flows continuously around the band, framed by crisp borders that highlight the strong contrast between polished silver and enamel. Subtle age patina enhances its antique charm, and the craftsmanship is typical of the continental sentimental jewellery popular in the late 19th century.

In the German speaking world of the Victorian era, rings bearing this motto were given as tokens of love, protection, and safe-keeping. They were often exchanged between family members or sweethearts departing on long journeys or even going to war. While black enamel was sometimes used in mourning jewellery, here it serves primarily to make the inscription stand out. Most examples, like this one, were made in Germany or the Austro-Hungarian Empire between 1880 and 1900, reflecting the period’s fascination with motto jewels and meaningful inscriptions.

This example remains in very good antique condition, with the enamel well preserved and the silver showing only light wear from age. A sentimental piece of history, it can be worn alone or stacked, carrying with it a heartfelt 19th-century message of protection that resonates just as strongly today.

Among the Best
I have read all of John's books... and those coauthored with others. Between John an Brent, I have to say this one stands out to me as the best. At least to me in my present place in the journey Home. I honestly wish I could meet both of these men, not only to personally shake their hands and thank them for this contribution of their experiences with God... but to actually know them and spend time in fellowship with them. YouTube videos just don't cut it! Lol If not in this side of the Sacred Romance, then definitely on the other. If either of you dear gentlemen ever read this review... I thank you both from the depths of my heart.

Explains It Very Well
"The Sacred Romance" describes the way that our relationship with God is SUPPOSED to be, and then discusses the hardships that hinder the ideal relationship with Him. The authors use down-to-earth stories and compare them to God's love, allowing readers to gain a new perspective on God. I cannot say that I truly understand God's love completely, because there is no way that any human could fully comprehend it. However, after reading this book, I can say that I think I understand God's love a little more. This book is an excellent read, and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to have a closer relationship with God.
