This enterprise-grade solution unlocks the full potential of two high-speed M.2 NVMe drives within ThinkSystem servers, delivering blazing-fast boot times, rapid data access, and improved overall system responsiveness for demanding workloads. Built to integrate seamlessly with Lenovo’s reliability and management ecosystem, the kit provides a streamlined path to enhanced storage performance without overhauling your existing server lineup. Whether you’re running databases, virtualization, virtual desktops, or large-scale analytics, this kit transforms storage throughput and latency characteristics while preserving data integrity and manageability.

  • Blazing NVMe performance for ThinkSystem servers: two M.2 NVMe drives deliver exceptional read/write throughput, ultra-low latency, and high IOPS. This kit is designed to capitalize on the speed advantages of NVMe technology, accelerating boot times, database queries, virtual machine provisioning, and workloads with heavy random I/O profiles.
  • Flexible RAID configurations for balance of performance and protection: configure in RAID 0 for maximum throughput or RAID 1 for redundancy. The kit supports straightforward RAID setup via the server’s management interfaces, enabling you to tailor storage behavior to your workload, latency, and uptime requirements.
  • Enterprise-grade reliability for mission-critical workloads: engineered to meet Lenovo ThinkSystem enterprise expectations, with robust electrical and thermal design, error detection features, and integration with Lenovo’s firmware and support ecosystem. This kit helps maintain consistent performance under load while protecting data integrity and uptime.
  • Seamless integration with Lenovo ThinkSystem family: specifically designed for compatibility with ThinkSystem servers and chassis, ensuring proper fit, connectors, and cable routing. The kit includes the necessary mounting hardware and cables to simplify installation and preserve airflow and chassis integrity.
  • Scalable upgrade path for growing storage needs: add NVMe speed to existing ThinkSystem configurations without a complete platform replacement. As data volumes and performance requirements increase, this kit provides a straightforward path to enhanced storage throughput and faster I/O for the environment you’ve already invested in.

How to install Lenovo ThinkSystem M.2 NVMe 2-Bay RAID Enablement Kit

  • Prepare and verify compatibility: Before you begin, confirm that your Lenovo ThinkSystem server supports M.2 NVMe expansion and that the firmware and RAID management tools are up to date. Review Lenovo’s compatibility guides and any model-specific notes to ensure the kit will operate within your system’s PCIe topology and power budget.
  • Power down and workspace preparation: Shut down the server, unplug all power sources, and discharge static. Remove the chassis cover following the service manual instructions and have a clean, ESD-safe workspace ready for installation to protect sensitive components.
  • Install the kit and secure the drives: Insert the kit into the appropriate ThinkSystem expansion area or mounting bracket as specified by Lenovo documentation. Attach the two M.2 NVMe drives into the kit’s M.2 sockets, aligning screws and connectors carefully, and secure the drives with the included hardware to prevent movement during operation.
  • Connect data and power interfaces: Route any required data and power cables per the kit’s installation guide, ensuring clean cable management and unobstructed airflow. Attach cables to the motherboard or RAID controller as directed by Lenovo’s assembly instructions, and double-check that all connectors are seated firmly.
  • Configure RAID and system settings: Power on the server and enter the BIOS/UEFI or the dedicated RAID management utility. Create your desired RAID array (RAID 0 or RAID 1 depending on your configuration). Apply the settings, save changes, and reboot. Verify that the OS recognizes the new logical drive and that the NVMe devices appear with expected performance characteristics.
  • Monitor and verify operation: After the system is back online, monitor drive health and array status through the Lenovo management interface. Run a quick integrity check if available, confirm that temperatures stay within safe ranges, and validate that performance meets the anticipated workload profile.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does the Lenovo ThinkSystem M.2 NVMe 2-Bay RAID Enablement Kit include?
The kit provides two M.2 NVMe drives, a RAID-enabled enclosure compatible with ThinkSystem servers, mounting hardware, cables, and documentation to guide installation and configuration. Exact package contents can vary by SKU, so for precise inclusions consult the product listing on the Lenovo ThinkSystem catalog or the Synnex specifications page for your region.
  • Which Lenovo ThinkSystem systems are compatible?
The kit is designed for Lenovo ThinkSystem servers that support M.2 NVMe expansion and RAID-enabled storage pathways. Compatibility depends on the server model, PCIe slot availability, and firmware levels. Always verify against Lenovo’s official compatibility matrices for your exact chassis and motherboard revision.
  • What RAID levels are supported?
In typical configurations, the kit enables RAID 0 for performance-focused deployments and RAID 1 for redundancy. Some models or controllers may offer additional RAID options via firmware, so consult the RAID controller documentation and Lenovo’s system guide to confirm supported levels for your particular setup.
  • Do I need additional software or a specific RAID controller?
Most ThinkSystem environments manage RAID through integrated controller utilities or BIOS-based configuration tools. The kit is designed to work with that ecosystem, but certain configurations may require a compatible RAID controller or management software version. Check the server’s RAID controller compatibility and firmware prerequisites prior to installation.
  • What performance improvements can I expect?
Two NVMe drives in a fast PCIe pathway can dramatically reduce boot times, accelerate databases and analytics workloads, and improve responsiveness for virtualization and VDI scenarios. Real-world gains depend on workload type, data access patterns, and the rest of the storage and compute stack.
  • What warranty and support come with the kit?
Lenovo typically offers enterprise-grade warranty support for ThinkSystem components, with options for on-site or remote assistance depending on region and contract. Always verify warranty terms and response times when purchasing through authorized channels.

Keeps her busy!
Color: Medium size (5.9")
Our Molly loves this. Only thing is that it is a little too big for our Maltipoo, but she still tries to keep up with it.

So far my dog hasn’t destroyed it! And it’s been a month. So I call that a win. Plus he loves it.

Perfect for active dogs
This is a must-have if your dog loves to fetch. It throws the ball far with very little effort and keeps your hands clean—no more slobbery chuckit balls. Lightweight, durable, and makes playtime much more fun (and less tiring for me!).

Way better than the M size for us
Like most people that have dogs I first went with the M size or Tennis ball size (about 2.5") chuckit for my 65-70 lbs Lab. After having that for a while and my dogs' evolution from liking to chase the ball to wanting to catch it, I started seeing how the M size could cause some life threating problems for my pup. I was on the fence for several weeks when I came across this option that included a 3" ultra ball as well as a 3" fuzzy tennis ball like ball. These balls can fly so much farther with less effort and my furry friend seeming to like them more than the 2.5 inch. It also seems to fit their mouth better allowing them to enjoy 'the game' (you lost by the way) much more. If you have a larger dog or your dog has a big mouth, please trust me when I say skip the 2.5" M size balls. You and your dog will haves much more fun with this 3" size
