How to install HPE 5950 8-Port QSFP28 Module

  • Prepare the chassis and module: Confirm your HPE 5950 switch is compatible with the 8-Port QSFP28 expansion module and that you have the correct fiber cables and connectors for your deployment. If your chassis supports hot-swapping, you can install without powering down; otherwise power down according to your equipment’s guidelines.
  • Open the slot and remove any blank panel: Access the expansion slot reserved for QSFP28 modules and remove any protective blanking or covers to expose the port receptacles.
  • Insert the QSFP28 module: Align the module with the slot, insert firmly until it seats, and engage the retention latch or locking mechanism as required by the chassis. Ensure all physical connections are secure before proceeding.
  • Attach fiber cabling: Connect the appropriate optical fiber cables to the QSFP28 ports using the correct fiber type and connector per your network design. Route cables neatly to avoid strain and ensure clean, secure terminations at both ends.
  • Verify operation and configuration: Power on (if applicable) and verify link status via the switch management interface. Check port LEDs for link/activity indicators and review the port configuration, including speed settings, VLANs, and any needed routing policies. If required, update or validate firmware to ensure compatibility with your network policies.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the HPE 5950 8-Port QSFP28 Module? It is an optical expansion module for HPE 5950 switches that provides eight QSFP28 ports capable of delivering 100G Ethernet connectivity, enabling high-density, scalable data center networks.
  • What network speeds does it support? The module supports 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GBASE-X) over optical fiber, suitable for high-performance uplinks and inter-switch links in modern data fabrics.
  • Is the module hot-swappable? Yes, in supported chassis and configurations. It is designed to be inserted or removed while the system is operational where the hardware platform allows hot-swapping.
  • Is it compatible with non-HPE devices? This module is designed for use with HPE 5950 switches. While it may physically fit other devices, full compatibility and guaranteed interoperability are not provided outside the HPE ecosystem.
  • Do I need special configuration after installation? In most deployments, the module operates with standard switch port configurations. Depending on your network, you may need to configure port speeds, link aggregation, QoS, or other data-plane policies to maximize performance.
  • What deployment scenarios benefit most from this module? Dense data center fabrics requiring scalable 100G uplinks, high-bandwidth interconnects between spine and leaf tiers, and backplane expansion for enterprise and service-provider networks.

Comfy pants!
Color: Camel, Size: 34
These elastic waist pants fit my son perfectly. He has difficulty with buttons and zippers so this is his best bet in order to look a little more fancy. The fit very well and are true to size. They are a little thin, but they look nice.

NICE AND STRETCHY
Color: Navy Blue, Size: 42
These pants are made of a material that seems durable and is definitely comfortable, and they have a stretch band at the waist that can comfortably accommodate many different belly girths-- from slim to portly. The waist also has a drawstring. I'd call these light weight pants, as the material is thin. They aren't baggy at all and fit the natural contours of an average male physique. The pants have two fairly deep front pockets and one small rear pocket that can easily fit a regular-sized wallet. But, I would not recommend carrying a wallet in the rear pocket, as, due to the depth of the pocket being only as deep as the wallet is long, it might slip out as you move around, sitting and rising. If nature calls, and you need to pee, you will have to pull your pants down and excite anyone in the immediate vicinity, as there is no opening, either buttoned or zippered, in the front of the pants. So, in that respect they are kind of like sweatpants. I'd call these pants good for inside the house or wearing on the street. I like them despite the lack of a fly, so I give 5 stars. I see lots of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese guys around who like to wear this type of pant, but these fit nicely for generally larger and more robust Caucasians type physiques as well. You don't have to worry about a belt or a broken fly zipper with these. Of course they are made in China, but due to their vast experience selling clothing to Americans, the manufacturers are well acquainted with big masculine American bodies and their needs.
