Harvested from grapes brown in the heart of Waipara Valley from six of our premium vineyard sites.
A hot dry 2019 mid-simmer period allowed the grapes to ripen with no disease issues. Vineyard management included trimming and leaf plucking giving the grape bunches good exposure to the sun, contributing to the ripeness and lack of disease.
Harvest started in late March with warm dry conditions, allowing for the grapes to undergo an extended fermentation on skins up to 21 days. Five months of French oak maturation followed prior to bottling.
